FAQs

Answers to some of the more common questions about London and World Schooling. If you have any quereies that are not answered here or within the info pack please feel free to contact us directly.

Inclusions

A seven day itenary of free/low cost activities that encourage and enable socialisation, learning and exploration with a group of like minded families.

Optional Workshops TBC - these will cost extra as proviers are independant but I would like to offer some more practical, hands on activities for those who are interested.

Info regarding areas and accomodation - London is a hugely diverse city with areas of imense affluence all the way down to areas suffering from a very real poverty crisis. In my 43 years here I have watched many of these areas shift and change both for better and worse. I will be supplying all attendees with a guide on types of accomodation and areas that I feel suitable for families on varying budgets.

NOT included

Accomodation - but you will receive a guide to areas/options.
Travel - either to London or within it.
Food - there are restaurants and supermarkets everywhere.
Insurance - please arrange your own insurance.

Accomodation

There is a short guide to accomodation in the welcome pack (link in bio) however please remember London is a hugely diverse city and has a huge range of areas to suit every budget.

Travel around the city is easy and you can loosely judge cost by tube zone - see colour bands on the map attached.

Zone 1 is most expensive but closest to all attractions. Zone 2/3 are a good midrange option - still accessible but more affordable. Zone 4/5 should be decidedly cheaper but once you get to 5/6 you will notice travel into the city takes considerably longer so bear this in mind if you do book there.

Please note the underground map is NOT geographically acruate so places that appear close on this map may be further than you think! Check googlemaps to make sure.

Typical Day

Lots of questions about the general routine of the day so thought I'd outline here.

Every day will include at least one outdoor space to relax, chat and play such as one of the Royal Parks and/or playground. There are some truly incredible play spaces here and I am excited to introduce you to them.

Lunch will be largely a takeaway affair, either snacks from a local supermarket, brough from home or from one of the many take-out lunch options in the city. We have all the usual chains like Pret a Manger and Leon but also a great range of independent businesses who offer freshly made food to eat on site usually in a little cafe type setting or to take away. It is common to see everyone from office workers to busy mums sat on a bench eating their lunch when the weather allows!

The afternoons, assuming we have done the outdoor space in the morning, will include one or more sites to visit such as Tower Bridge, The London Eye or more hidden gems like St Dunstans in the East or street art in Shoreditch.

Workshops will be either morning or afternoon and largely close to whatever alt activity is happening so those attending can always join us after they finish.

Days will run from around 10am to 5pm but as ever please feel free to dip in and out of as many or as few as you wish.

Any other questions just shout.

Age Range?

The event is not aimed at any set age group - I am so familiar with London I plan to tailor our itinerary based on ages once the event is fully booked.

It goes without saying London has events and activities for every age so no matter what age your kids are they will not be bored.

I will keep an updated list on Facebook with ages of attendees.

Travel in London

Most people use their credit/debit card or phone to pay for travel in the city now however you can obtain a 'visitor oyster card' for adults should you wish.

Children under 11 are free
Children over 15 pay adult fares

Children 11-15 can get a reduced rate ONLY if they have an oyster card - I would strongly advise getting one for anyone with kdis this age.
To do so apply here;
https://visitorshop.tfl.gov.uk/en/london-visitor-oyster-card

Please note pretty much all buses/trains are impoaaible to board without paying so please do ensure you have some form of payment upon arrival.
